Introduction to Beekeeping
The Theory Course will cover the basic theory and equipment required, the life cycle of the honeybee and the work involved over the beekeeping season. The Practical Course will involve the regular opening up of beehives every week during the course (weather permitting) and will give a solid basic grounding in the art of beekeeping.

Theory Course starts Monday 15th January 2018, 7-9pm.   Held at Esher College, Weston Green Road, Thames Ditton, Surrey, KT7 0JB

Practical Course starts Saturday 21st April at Hampton Court Apiary.

BBKA Intermediate Module 2 Honeybee Products and Forage
Tuesday January 9th, Tuesday January 23rd, Tuesday February 6th, Tuesday March 6th, Tuesday March 13th 7-9pm

This module covers the extraction of honey, then processing it and bottling it for sale.  We will also cover cut comb, chunk honey and then the conditions suitable for storing honey.  There is a section on wax, dealing with cappings and how they can be made.  The final section is on bee forage, good sources of nectar, and the process of pollination and fertilisation.

There will be a charge of £10 for the five sessions to offset hire charges.

All members are welcome to extend their knowledge, they are useful discussion sessions and pooling of knowledge.  It is a study group and people are asked to contribute.  There is no pressure to actually enter for the assessment, the important thing is to acquire knowledge about our wonderful hobby.

Held at Esher College, Weston Green Road, Thames Ditton, Surrey, KT7 0JB
